Taedong Travel is a specialist company which arranges budget tours to the DPRK (North Korea).  Our mission is to provide travelers with:

- a chance to see this fascinating and unique country
- at the lowest cost possible
- maintaining a high quality travel experience for all

Taedong Travel was established in 2012 by Stuart Leighton, who has been visiting the country as a tour leader since 2008.  Each time Stuart returned to the DPRK, he further developed friendships with the Korean guides and he grew to love seeing how the country was slowly inching forward and progressing.  With a background in education, Stuart developed an idea to provide low cost travel to the DPRK in order to enable those with a smaller travel budget, namely students and backpackers, a chance to see this mysterious and often misunderstood country, and to fall in love with its sheer uniqueness.

Emily Qiu graduated from Jiangxi Province Guides School and initially became a tour leader in Beijing and Jiangxi province before focusing her attention on the DPRK.  Emily has lead tours to North Korea for a number of years, taking in some of the less visited cities such as Rason, Chilbo and Siniuju, as well as leading tours around the capital, Pyongyang.  Her lengthy experience as a tour guide both in China and the DPRK, and her warm and radiant personality will ensure that customers get the most from their trip to North Korea.
